When Inspiration Hits!

I've had this blog post idea written down in my journal and now on my dry erase inspiration board, that is currently hanging in my almost newly finished house (breathe) for the longest time now.

In the end pretty much none of those made it into reality, but what we do have in the house has made me feel at home :)

Here's a few pictures that I found inspiration from and what we have done in our house. Also if you think about it this is pretty much like a sneak peek of what our house looks like ;)

Travis and I loved the color scheme in this picture. As well as the pallet wall :) Our colors aren't exactly like this picture but we do have different shades of all the same colors. One day though, I will make an exact replica of this photo. I love it so much!
Advice: If you decide to do a pallet wall. It's SOOOO much easier to take apart the pallets with a Skil saw. It is a little time consuming, cutting the nails with the saw as well as hammering out each cut nail in the pallets. You can choose not do that but we didn't want the nail look in our pallets.

I will still be doing my tea cup shelf! Maybe not exactly like in this cute picture, but I will have some kind of tea cup shelf! Even it doesn't match anything else in the house. I must have it!

This house is actually in Golden. We drove past it one day and I had to get a picture because these colors are exactly what I want to do on the outside of the house.
Oooooooh the wood and industrial pipe door. There's many things I could say about this but the only thing I will say is, IT'S NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKS! Seriously.... We thought; oh get a wood door, buy the industrial black sliding rail thing and some black piping to make the ladder on the door, put it all together in a day.... Boom! DONE!...... O.o
If I'm at all qualified now to tell anyone who wanted to do this, DON'T. Hire a professional. We also have the worst luck with doors. I'll go into that in another post.

Lastly, if you don't follow us on our Facebook page, we announced the day that we will be revealing the house on the blog. It will be next Saturday July 30, 2016.
This week we will be working like crazy to get as much as we can done. As well as doing a count down on our Facebook page and Instagram. Be on the look out for our countdown til we hit $10,000! It'll be happening soon!

Currently: $9,256.00

You're not going to have what?!

Here's an update on our electrical situation.

Travis and I have decided not to buy solar panels. Instead we are going to plug into the grid. There's a few reasons why we're not going to but that part is boring. Positive side is that during the winter if our fireplace isn't enough, we'll be able to plug a space heater in and stay warm. We'll also be saving about $2,000 and be able to spend a little more on design stuff for the house.

(Travis says we're going to go over budget, but I don't think we'll spend $2,000 on design. NO WAY! So we'll see who's right.)

Also we've finished all the major construction for the house!

There might be a few minor things that we still have to do and I just can't think of them right now. But now we just have to focus on getting everything we need and putting it all in it's place. After that it's painting the outside of the house and cleaning everything up!

Next thing we'll decide on is when we'll actually reveal the house so we can give you all a date to look forward to. I'll probably update you guys on that later today or tomorrow. So stay tuned for that because that date will be our deadline to get our butt's moving to finish and so we can show you all what we've been working on for a year!

I can't wait to show you all the house! For now it'll continue to be sneak peeks :)

I bet you guys can't guess what this is! ;)

Crossing more things off our list

Hello!

We've been working like busy bee's on the house. We've crossed off more things on our list. We have a few more things that we have to get done before decorating and doing all the finishing touches and then it's onto painting the outside of the house.

  1. Buy couch, table, cabinets, bathroom door, shower, toilet, compost bin
  2. Put together couch, toilet, compost bin, table, shower, bathroom door, cabinets
  3. Clean and paint cabinets
  4. Mount Fireplace
  5. Pallets and bathroom door/ladder
  6. Plumbing (this won't take very long)
  7. Solar Panels
  8. Cut hole for solar panel wires
  9. Get second Cabinet
  10. Cut hole for fireplace flu (we may wait till after our house warming to cut the hole)
  11. Storage for food, water, and wood
  12. Decorate
  13. Dinning room chairs
  14. Fire alarms
  15. Bathroom bucket storage
  16. Water jugs
  17. Target Run for house necessities.... again :)
  18. Painting/ cleaning outside- start new list
After all of this we get to show everyone! I'm having such a hard time coming up with pictures to post now because I don't want to show the house yet. Most of the stuff on this list will not take very long. It's mainly going out and buying things, which is the fun part :)

Lastly, I'm super proud of our pallet wall. We may paint some of them to match the rest of the house but here's a sneak peek of what it looks like right now!

The List

Hello!

This week we're here to update you all on where we are and how much further we have to go.  Also tell you a little more about what the blog will be about once we're done with the house.

I'm going to keep the blog related to the tiny house and show you all what its like to live in one, as well as home improvement and DIY projects. I also want to do Travel Diary's for when we travel and share our experiences with you all.

Next I've made a list of all the things we have yet to finish on the house: (We will be finishing the first set of cabinets today!)

  1. Buy couch, table, cabinets, bathroom door, shower, toilet, compost bin
  2. Put together couch, toilet, compost bin, table, shower, bathroom door, cabinets
  3. Clean and paint cabinets
  4. Mount Fireplace
  5. Pallets and bathroom door/ladder
  6. Plumbing (this won't take very long)
  7. Solar Panels
  8. Cut hole for solar panel wires
  9. Get second Cabinet
  10. Cut hole for fireplace flu
  11. Storage for food, water, and wood
  12. Decorate
  13. Dinning room chairs
  14. Fire alarms
  15. Bathroom bucket storage
  16. Water jugs
  17. Target Run for house necessities.... again :)
  18. Painting/ cleaning outside- start new list
As you can tell we got the majority of the big stuff done. Now it's all the little things that keep holding us up, BUT we are getting there!

I also finished the trim which was the biggest pain in the butt! It looks alright, definitely not a professionals job but makes it look more like a home.

Anyway, next blog post will be on setting up the pallets and bathroom door!

Budget update: $8,277

Oh and did I mention we have about two more weeks til we're finished with the house?

Travis' Injuries

Hi everyone!

It's been a long while since I've made a blog post. We've been having computer issues and had to get it fixed. We've also been working non stop on the house and have finally moved in!

There's still so much work work to do and it's all a bunch of little things that we have to do.

So while I take more pictures and get them all together. I have a few ideas for blog posts and videos that I want to share in the mean time.
