Lifting the Roof

Yesterday was a jam packed, stressful, and fulfilling day!

Travis and I went through misunderstandings, frustrations and thoughts on wanting to quit.

But once we ended our 10 hour day working on the house, we realized that if we could get through a day like we did, then we can  do anything!

We decided to not put any windows in the loft for two reasons. One; we couldn't find another small window, and second; the window we do have will not fit in the loft. We are bummed cause there's a pretty epic view of the mountains from the loft but we have to do what we have to do.

There will be more pictures and videos to come. Next post will be the last construction related post. We will have videos of putting together all the finishings but we are done framing the house!

Installing Windows!

Hellooooo!

As my last post mentioned, we changed our plan on the order of doing things. Instead of cutting the roof for the loft we decided to install some of our windows!

The reason we decided to do this is because we had a friend stop by to see the house and he was nice enough to help us do the windows.

Not going to lie, it was the easiest thing we've done on the house so far..... I was worried that it was not going to work with just 3 people, but really it could of been done with just 2. I thought we were going to try to get the big window in and then need 10 more people.

So far we've....

-put tar paper on all the window framing

-installed all the windows besides the 2 loft windows which we still have to go buy one more of

-now we just have to finish covering up all the spaces around the windows.

Lastly, I'm going to be getting a new camera this weekend. I want to implement other video ideas so that'll come soon.

I also wanted to ask you guys if you have any suggestions or things you would like to see more of. I would love any feedback and conversation. Anything from telling us your experiences with tiny houses, whether that's been just meeting someone that lives in one to nothing at all, or maybe tell us about yourselves. I would like to get to know some of the non family and friend readers. Anything would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading guys!

Change of plans....

More framing!

The blade broke on us when we were cutting the curve in the wood to fit into the ceiling.
No one got hurt, luckily. We got most of the framing done on the ceiling, but not where the loft is.

There's a change of plans.

In my last post I mentioned the things that we were planning on doing next.  But things have changed. Unfortunately you guys will have to wait for the next blog post to see what we've accomplished!

Stay tuned and enjoy the video!

Here we go again with the videos

Hey guys!

First thing, I revised the last blog post, so go look at it again to get the updated version.

Here's a short video I did cleaning up the house while Travis was gone. It was full of saw dust, it was bad!

Also here's Travis and I putting up the 4x4's for the loft and our adventure to our local hardware store. (This is before he left for his trip) These bad boys are the things that we'll get to see when we're under the loft. They will obviously be painted, but I'm super happy that we have something up that is part of the finished look.

Now that Travis is home we will be working on cutting the roof and getting that all framed. Electrical and insulation is after that!

Then the real fun begins guys! All the finishings... Stay tuned for a video of us lifting the roof!

Travis' Secret Notes

Here's a video of me putting together a goodie bag and love notes for Travis. I didn't film putting the notes in his back pack because it was late at night and I totally spaced on filming it.

So here's me talking to a camera, getting the feel of being in front of the camera instead of behind it :)

When we start doing finishings for the house, I'll be making Travis do all the camera work ;)

Hope you guys enjoy!

Name Suggestions.....

Hello all!

I wanted to see if any of you guys had any name suggestions for the Youtube channel. We obviously want something that encompasses Travis and I and the tiny house. I have some ideas floating around in my head, but I just thought I'd see what you guys could come up with!

Anyway, here's a few videos for your guy's entertainment :)
Enjoy!

This is never fun to do! You guys
will see what we did so that we
don't have to get on the roof anymore
and shovel off water.

I can't wait for my door to be in!

No music :( But enjoy the dance moves by yours truly

Lastly, leave your name suggestions down in the comment box on the blog!

Changes coming soon....

We're still working on framing the walls. We had to get more wood and we think it's our last trip to the lumberyard.

I've been filming a lot for the blog but unfortunately we have to get Travis' computer looked at because we have no way to edit the videos.

So please bare with us and know that we want to get a bunch of videos for you guys.

I've been coming up with a lot of ideas of things to film, just so that they aren't only of us (or Travis) building.

Lastly, we'll be making a Youtube channel here soon.
Stay tuned!

More Videos

Hey everyone!

We've been working on the house a lot recently. We've thought about changing some things up for the blog by doing more videos. We're hoping it'll be more interactive for you guys and make you feel like you're building the house with us.

So here's a short time lapse video of us putting together the frame for the loft. There's obviously no turning back now ;)

And here's more framing!

I love sharing and updating you all on the tiny house!

We got a lot done this past weekend. We got started on the framing for the loft today!

We are hoping to keep this energy up and work on it during the week as well, the horrible weather this past weekend did not stop us!
Travis loves his before pictures :)

And I love getting my after pictures!

This is our view outside our kitchen window. I'll have to take pictures when you can actually see the mountain :)

And here's a picture of the pallets that I've decided to use for the interior siding!

I haven't told you all but I've decided on using pallets for the interior siding. That will have to be discussed in another post, so be on the look out for that one!
